I just think it isn't feasible anymore, what with the largeness of world populations. And it leaves out the increasing responsibility of "Smith" (the original aggressor) for having started the whole fight! "Smith" is the one who should be properly contained and prosecuted. And while I understand that it doesn't give "Jones" the right to hurt anyone else in the process, I'm not sure this concept can be applied to today's military actions, especially when "Smith" is known to put a third party in front of him as a human shield.What can we say then??-------how can we return to the "old" way of fighting where armies met each other on an open field and only soldier were in the heat of battle? Or at best, even if secretive tactics are allowed so that the front lines aren't just human decoys falling at the first round of shots, having those battlegrounds closed to innocent people? It's a dilemma. The population is big, even if the world no longer is. While I hate war, there are times when it's necessary...... That concept all sounds ideal and fair!
